Title

Prudently Careful or Simply Careless?

Scripture
A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; the simple pass on and are punished.
(Proverbs 27:12)
Devotional
There is no room for carelessness with the prudent. The prudent are careful; that is, they are full of care. Everything is done purposefully, with counsel and planning. The prudent advance with wisdom and guidance. The simple or foolish on the other hand, are seldom careful. They are careless, that is they could care less about planning and wise counsel. Therefore, they rarely advance. The foolish do not only ignore evil, they simply fail to see it. The reason being is that they are not looking for it. They place their hope in luck or chance. The prudent do not take blind chances, they take calculated risks. They foresee the evil and look toward the good. They are constantly asking questions and receiving instruction. They hide themselves in the security of wisdom and the safety of knowledge. The foolish, on the other hand, could just care less.
