Heaven’s Benefit Package

Beloved, we are confident of better things concerning you, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner.

The psalmist tells us, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”(1) Forgiveness of sin, right standing with God, and salvation are the principle things. However, there are innumerable benefits that accompany these: peace of mind, the fellowship of the believers, spiritual gifts, and the right to approach the very throne of God. Without Christ there is merely existence, with Him there is purpose. Life has meaning and life is good. Further benefits come with the maturing of the believer: patience, endurance, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Even in trials and tribulations we can have the benefits of His presence. In giving, we have access to the windows of heaven, in labors, prosperity,(2) and in health, healing. These are just a few of the better things that God intends to accompany your salvation. Therefore, let us consistently, “Bless . . . the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits.”(3)
