Title

I Know God and You’re Not God

Scripture
Because your heart is lifted up, and you say, “I am a god . . . yet you are a man, and not a god...”
(Ezekiel 28:2)
Devotional
Arrogance and pride caused Lucifer, the archangel, to fall and become the epitome of evilness, Satan. We are foolish to think that we can do the same without likewise falling. If, for example, we seek fame and fortune for the sake of fame and fortune, we seek foolishness and destruction. If our lives are merely shows and facades, we are in danger of plunging into the abyss. It is for this reason that the Scriptures instruct, “Let a man examine himself.”(1)
Let us not fool ourselves, we cannot fool God. We may be able to hoodwink those around us for a season, but we will not fool God for a moment. Whenever you find yourself beginning to get puffed-up, stop, repent and humble yourself before the Lord. Remember, there is only one God and you and I are not Him. God may call us to lead others, but he will not call us to lord over them.
