Choosing To Remain Subordinate

Scripture
A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master.
(Matthew 10:24-25)

Jesus furthermore said, "He who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do."[12] Does this mean that we will be greater than Jesus? Certainly not. Nevertheless the disciple can achieve greater works than his or her teacher. Yet, no matter how much more may be accomplished or achieved, the disciple is to always reverence his or her teachers, always remembering the source of their discipline. To achieve the status of our teachers and leaders is in itself a great goal. The wise disciple however will always see him or herself as the student and the servant. It is a matter of honor. A good example would be our honoring our parents. No matter what level of success we may ever achieve, they will always be our first teachers and leaders. We will always be subject to them in that realm.
