Wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.

Devotional
Wealth and riches can and will eventually fail, but wisdom can and does serve its possessor eternally. All the wealth this world has to offer cannot keep you and me from death's door, but wisdom can get us through it into paradise. Financial success and wealth are good, but void of wisdom they profit little. I have never seen prosperity without wisdom bring anything but ruin. Rubies and all things desired without wisdom are things that will eventually be possessed without thanksgiving. And if we are not thankful for our measure, we will in time despise and scorn that measure. Therefore, if we belong to Christ, He will only grant us that which we have the wisdom to handle. Proverbs says it so very well, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding."[1] Likewise remember, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom."[2]
