Title

Wisdom Rewards

Scripture
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, and if you scoff, you will bear it alone.
(Proverbs 9:12)
Devotional
Wisdom rewards its possessor, as scoffing receives its punishment. Both are certainties. Wisdom prospers, unites and heals. Scoffing brings poverty, division and pain. Therefore the wise speak for the edification of others. It purposefully weighs its words and engages its mind before speaking. The scoffer on the other hand is in the demolition business. It tares-down belittles and attempts to defame. Yet, the scoffer inevitably falls victim to his or her own devices. Sooner or later others will see its vileness and contempt. Wisdom will always pay good dividends. Its return may not always be immediate, but they will be sure. When we are wise, we are patient. The scoffer will have none of that. The scoffer demands an immediate return, instant gratification. Wisdom receives its reward and it is good. Scoffing receives its reward as well and it will stand alone.
