Title

A Fool's Sport

Scripture
To do evil is like sport to a fool, but a man of understanding has wisdom.
(Proverbs 10:23)
Devotional
It may be a game to those who practice it, but it is a game you cannot win. Sin, purposefully doing wrong, is a sure way to destruction and great loss. If our plans are plans of deception and fraud, our plans are the sport of fools. We must avoid not only all evil actions, but evil thoughts as well. Let us not muse on those things that falsely entertain the mind. Let us refuse to think on things that are contrary to the things that make for peace with God. Whenever we find ourselves thinking on things that violate our consciences, let us purposefully stop and immediately repent of those thoughts. Let us heed these instructions: "Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things."[1]
