Title

Have Faith In God For Tomorrow

Scripture
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
(Proverbs 27:1)
Devotional
James says it this way, “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’”(1)
We so often foolishly boast about tomorrow the very things we are not willing to do today - as if we will be different tomorrow than we are today. If we are lazy today, we will be lazier tomorrow. Even if we do our best today, we have no guarantee of tomorrow. Tomorrow is in the Lord’s hands, not ours.
Therefore, we must follow the instructions of James and say, “If the Lord wills we will live and do this or that.” Let us work obediently today and have faith in God for tomorrow.
