Title

The Fear of the Lord Is To Love the Lord

Scripture
In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge.
(Proverbs 14:26)
Devotional
If we reverentially fear God we will fear nothing else. This fear therefore will bring a strong confidence and bold ability to achieve the things we believe we are called to do. Likewise, our families will be secure as well. The problem arises when we fear that which God says we are not to fear. For example Proverbs 29:25 furthermore says, "The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe."[1] Twenty seven times in the scriptures we hear the phrase, "The fear of the Lord." The fear of the Lord is the beginning of both knowledge and wisdom. When I was a child I feared my parents. This fear kept me from a multitude of problems and trouble. The only thing that outweighed my fear of them was my love for them. I feared them because I loved them. And I knew without doubt that they loved me. And the more I fear the God the more I know of His love for me.
