Title

The Consistency of the Believer

Scripture
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
(Colossians 3:17)
Devotional
Whether we are working, playing or worshipping, all that we do is to be done as unto the Lord. I am not saying that each equates to the other; nevertheless who we are in Christ is to be consistent. I am not to be one person on Sunday and another on Monday. I am not to have one vocabulary in church and another on the golf course. If we call ourselves Christian, then we are to be Christians 24 hours a day, seven days a week. At home, at work and at play: “Let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.”(1) I know and understand that this is often very difficult, especially for a new believer, nevertheless it can be achieved and we must achieve it. For if we fail to live by the same godly rule of conduct, we will inevitably revert to a lower level of morality.

Thought For The Night
“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.” Martin Luther King, Jr. speaking to students at Barratt Junior High School in Philadelphia on October 26, 1967.
