Title

Who Is Following Your Example?

Scripture
So that you become examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe.
(1 Thessalonians 1:7)
Devotional
What kind of an example are you? Do you influence lives by your lifestyle? Do you impact people you do not know? Do your words match your deeds? If you desire to change any realm of your life, you will have to change the lives of others around you. Therefore, you must be an example. Jesus said, “I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.” The apostle Paul said to young Timothy, “Be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Do you have desires for your family? Lead the way. Model what you desire and people will model you. Do not expect others to pay the price you are unwilling to pay. Before you can demand it you must consistently do it. Once is not an example. It takes repetition. That is why there are four gospels. If you truly want to be an example, just be real at what you do, and people will follow your example.
Thought For The Night
“One Sunday morning in 1865, a black man entered a fashionable church in Richmond, Virginia. When Communion was served, he walked down the aisle and knelt at the altar. A rustle of resentment swept the congregation. How dare he! After all, believers in that church used the common cup. Suddenly a distinguished layman stood up, stepped forward to the altar, and knelt beside the black man. With Robert E. Lee setting the example, the rest of the congregation soon followed his lead.”  Today in the Word, September, 1991
