Devotional
By the mere passing of years knowledge and wisdom is acquired. Those older than we have been where we are at the very least in age. Most likely they have experienced things that we have not, and by those experiences attained a level of understanding superior to ours. Therefore they are to be honored. The younger are to see the older not as relics of the past, but as those who have a history to share. The wise young man or woman will seek the counsel and wisdom of the silver-haired. He or she will dig deep into their memories and experiences, listening with an ear leaning toward obedience. The wise child will say to a grandparent: "Tell me about…” “Explain to me…” “What was it like…”? Therefore let us seek teachers and mentors of age and wisdom. Let us look for those who have years of life’s experience behind them, always listening and learning. When we seek the advice and counsel of the silver-haired, we likewise honor them and give them a crown of glory.
