Title

The Price-tag Of A Bribe

Scripture
A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back to pervert the ways of justice.
(Proverbs 17:23)
Devotional
Can you be bought? Is there a price tag on your integrity? My hope with you is that the answer is, no. The temptation to accept an enticement to compromise our integrity can at times be almost overpowering. The temptation can be so subtle that its outward appearance seems just and wise, yet inside there is that uncertainness that whispers "caution." A bribe could be anything from not revealing a wrong to save an apparent friendship to turning a blind eye on business fraud to save face or a job. Both pervert the ways of justice. Let us therefore wavering hold on to our integrity. Let us never succumb to a bribe of gain, favor, and fame or yield to a bribe of coercion. Resist its temptation and like the devil himself, it will flee from you. Ill-gotten gain will never truly prosper and a bribe is by all means, ill-gotten gain. Those who accept it are wicked.
