Title

Doing What I Said I Would Do

Scripture
For you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus .
(1 Thessalonians 4:2)
Devotional
Am I doing what I know to do? This is all that the Lord requires of us, doing what we know. James says, “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” For example, if you hear a teaching or a sermon on a certain subject, and you agree with what is being instructed and are not doing it, it is sin. You have violated your conscience. If you know that God instructs you to give tithes and offering and you do not, you have violated the commandments. If you know that you should not lust nor covet, and you do, you are in violation. I believe that if you know that you should be working harder and you are not, again, it is sin. What do you know? Are you doing what you know? If not, why not start now.
Thought For The Night

Instant obedience is the only kind of obedience there is; delayed obedience is disobedience. Whoever strives to withdraw from obedience, withdraws from Grace.” Thomas a Kampis, (1379–1471), Augustinian writer, whose name derives from his birthplace, Kempen, in W Germany, Imitatio Christi.

Defining: “Decalogue”: “The name given by the Greek fathers to the Ten Commandments, ‘the ten words,’ as the original is more literally rendered (Ex. 20:3-17). These commandments were at first written on two stone slabs (31:18), which were broken by Moses… (32:19). They were written by God a second time (34:1). The Decalogue is alluded to in the New Testament five times.” Easton Bible Dictionary
