Title

Good Works Require Resources

Scripture
There was a certain disciple named Tabitha
(Acts 9:36)
Devotional
Like just about every verse of scripture, this one is filled with lessons. Lets look at a few of them: First of all, Tabitha was a disciple. She was not only a believer; she adhered to the teachings and ways of Christ. Also, we see by the structure of the sentence that there is a difference in being filled with good works and doing them. We all know people who talk about the things they want to do, but seldom if ever do them. She not only desired to do them, she did them. A possible hidden lesson is that she had the wherewithal to do good works—that is, she had the resources. Most likely Tabitha was wealthy. This isn’t rocket science, but a lack of resources usually limits our ability to do many, if not most good works. Therefore, let us not only talk about good works; let us seek the resources to accomplish the desires of a disciple.
