Title

The Inheritance of Integrity

Scripture
The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.
(Proverbs 20:7)
Devotional
Integrity is what makes us who we are. Everyone has it to some degree. The question is, of what integrity are you? Even thieves have integrity. They have a strict moral code by which they function. It may be immoral; nevertheless it is their morality. As a matter of fact, I have known criminals who hold more to their integrity than believers who are to hold to the highest standards of integrity. I say this to our shame, not to the credit of the criminal. There is security in integrity.[1] Our integrity guides us.[2] And in our text we are told that it will bless our children. There is no greater inheritance we can leave to our children than our integrity. It is greater than wealth, homes, or fame. The integrity of parents will be the conscience of their children. It may not be applied, but it will never leave them. Integrity can be left as an inheritance, but it must be received and applied by its heirs.
