Title

Christ Our Common Bond

Scripture
The rich and the poor have this in common, the Lord is the maker of them all.
(Proverbs 22:2)
Devotional
The poor are not to despise the rich and the rich are not to patronize the poor. Wealth and poverty do not make one more endearing to God. There is to be a common bond between believers and the bond is not social or financial status. That bond is Jesus Christ. Each can learn from the other. Someone once said, "It is the duty of rich men to know how poor men live. And it is the duty of the poor to know how rich men work." Let us not judge one another nor ignore each other. Let us love one another as Christ has commanded us—living together in unity of the Spirit. Let not the rich despise the poor, but let them use their wealth to aid the poor. Likewise let not the poor condemn the rich, but let them learn from them how to obtain life’s abundance.  Remember, the Lord is maker of us all.
