Title

You Are Not the Purpose of the Church

Scripture
Although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
(Romans 1:21)
Devotional
This seems to be the commentary of much of the church in our day. God is not glorified, man is, and the people are unthankful. Therefore the much of the church has become futile in their efforts to accomplish God's will for themselves individually and for the church as the body of Christ. And for this reason the church has become a dark place. If we claim to know God then we must glorify Him as God. We are to praise and worship Him with joy and enthusiasm. Church is not about singing hymns and songs; it is to be about worshipping and praising the Creator of the universe. The church is not merely a feeding trough, but a place of thanksgiving and serving. The Church of Jesus Christ is not about you and me, but it is all about Him. Therefore, if we profess to know God let us glorify Him and be thankful, and live in the light of His grace.
