Title

Avoid The Way of The Scornful

Scripture
Surely He scorns the scornful, but gives grace to the humble.
(Proverbs 3:34)
Devotional
Our contempt and distain toward those created in the image of God will not go without retribution. In like manner His favor is toward those who in humility love those created in His image. When we are scornful, we are judging those who belong to God. We hold in contempt those for whom Christ died. Humility realizes that no matter what manner of person one may be, God loves that person. Yes, He hates their sin, yet He loves them. He proved His love for them in while they, like you and me, were yet sinners Christ died for us.[1] How can we scorn those for whom Christ died? The apostle Peter tells us quoting the scriptures, "Be clothed with humility, for‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’”[2] I do not want God to resist me. I want Him to embrace me. Therefore I am to likewise embrace those for whom Christ died.
