The answer to our text most likely is, "Yes I do." God clarified this when He said in 1 Samuel 16:7, "The Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."[1] It is a fact; man will inevitably look at the facade, paying little if any attention to true character. It is our nature; it is a fact. Therefore, there are two very powerful lessons to be learned: The first being, do not succumb to beauty, attire or first impressions. Give people time to reveal who they truly are. The second lesson is that people are going to judge you by your looks, attire and your first impression. If we realize these two truths, we will do well on both sides of the equation. I am not instructing to be deceptive by our first impressions; I am however exposing the power of the first impression. Use it and beware of it.
