Title

The Guide of the Mind

Scripture
I thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience...
(2 Timothy 1:3)
Devotional
The conscience, for the most part, is a wonderful indicator of right and wrong. The problem arises when we continually ignore it. The apostle also instructed Timothy, “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared...”(1)
If we continually ignore our consciences, they will in turn cease to warn us. Therefore, do not disregard the guide of your mind, the conscience. If it says that you have wronged someone, make it right. If it indicates any amount of guilt, heed its warning. The purpose of our conscience is to keep and make things right in our lives.
Does you conscience bother you? Listen to it. There is most likely something you have to correct in your life. Spend a little time with your conscience. Make a list of its guidance, and keep it clear.

“I desire so to conduct the affairs of this administration that if at the end, when I come to lay down the reins of power, I have lost every other friend on earth, I shall at least have one friend left, and that friend shall be down inside of me.” President Abraham Lincoln

Defining: “Conscience”: The mental capacity to be guided by our own moral compass, an originator of right and wrong. To be used as a warning sign, not necessarily a dictator.

Referencing: “I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men,” Acts 24:16.

Applying: Remember, your conscience is not all-inclusive, but as Jiminy Cricket said, “When you get in trouble and you don't know right from wrong, give a little whistle! Give a little whistle!
When you meet temptation and the urge is very strong, give a little whistle! Give a little whistle! Not just a little squeak, pucker up and blow. And if your whistle’s weak, yell ‘Jiminy Cricket!’ Take the straight and narrow path and if you start to slide, give a little whistle! Give a little whistle! And always let your conscience be your guide.”
