Title

Quitting Is Easy

Scripture
I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 3:14)
Devotional
Quitting is easy. I am a runner, a slow runner, but nevertheless a runner. I have run several short races and a couple of marathons. Many times throughout them all, I've wanted to quit, but I did not. The reason I didn't give up is that to run these races, especially the marathons, I had to train. There were several times during the training that I just couldn't go any further; I had to stop for a while. But I kept pressing on and after a while I didn't have to stop. Eventually I did receive the prize: a few tee shirts and a couple of ribbons. Running has taught me a lot about myself, especially about my walk with the Lord. I have learned that just about anyone can start. It's easy to run into the valleys, but it is difficult to run up the mountains. There are times of great ecstasy and times of pain and exhaustion. But the fruit of the run and the joy of the finish are worth it all.
