Acknowledge It

Scripture
We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness and the iniquity of our fathers, for we have sinned against You.
(Jeremiah 14:20)
Devotional
We are more than often quick to acknowledge the wickedness of others, but how often do we acknowledge our own wickedness? We are to consistently examine our lives,[1] our attitudes, our heritage and our society. Let us say with the psalmist, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."[2] We seem to be living a comfortable life of uncertainty between sin and righteousness. There seems to be a tolerance of sin and an intolerance of the things of God in not only the world, but the church as well. We cannot afford to ignore our iniquities and the wickedness that surrounds us. Therefore let us that, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."[3]
