Title

The Laws Of Our Fathers

Scripture
Whoever keeps the law is a discerning son, but a companion of gluttons shames his father.
(Proverbs 28:7)
Devotional
Which laws are we to keep? First and foremost, we are to keep the laws of God. We are to keep the laws of the land as long as those laws do not conflict with the laws of God. And we are to keep the laws of our fathers. As a matter of fact the first laws we are to keep as young children are the laws of our fathers. We carry their names. We represent their families and heritage. How do we do so? How do we keep the laws of our fathers? We are to honor them. In so doing, we not only keep the laws of the fathers, but we keep the law of God as well. "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you."[1] We are to obey them and do our very best to associate with those who do the same.
