Title

The Wise And The Perverse

Scripture
A man will be commended according to his wisdom, but he who is of a perverse heart will be despised.
(Proverbs 12:8)
Devotional
Wisdom is rightly applied knowledge. It is simply doing the right that we know to do. No matter much or little of it we may have, rightly applied it will bring commendation. The conniver and perverse on the other hand will be despised by his or her actions. To the wise go the accolades, to the froward the dislike. Rightly applied wisdom, and I do not think that there can be any other kind, finds favor. The perverse may fool some for a season, but will eventually be found out and rejected. Therefore, let us ask ourselves, am I finding favor or are the very ones I am attempting to reach despising my ways? Am I acting with applied knowledge or are my ways perverse? Am I conniving for personal gain or attempting to win others for their own good? The wise give with a godly purpose, the perverse always take with a selfish motive.
