Title

Unmet Expectations

Scripture
When a wicked man dies, his expectation will perish, and the hope of the unjust perishes.
(Proverbs 11:7)
Devotional
The legacy of the wicked is their wickedness. Their goals, dreams and desires perish with them. What is remembered of them is their fall. We likewise cannot live unrighteous lives and have our expectations come to fruition. It just will not happen. Those things the wicked hope for will always be out of reach. They may be seen or within reach, but the their achievement will parish. The wicked are never satisfied, never fulfilled and never experience true joy. They may have the appearance of happiness and prosperity, but it will never satisfy their appetites. They will perish in their desires. They will die hungry and thirsty. There is no exception to the rule. It is inevitable: The unjust, the unrighteous and the wicked will perish without reward. They will enter and remain in eternity, "wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked."[10]
