Title

When God Is Heavy-Handed

Scripture
Then the hand of the Lord was upon me there, and He said to me, “Arise, go out into the plain, and there I shall talk with you.”
(Ezekiel 3:22)
Devotional
The hand of the Lord can oftentimes be a very heavy hand. The things that the Lord required of Ezekiel are beyond my realm of understanding. Nevertheless, the Lord God is trustworthy. We may not always understand His ways, but we can trust His character. We can only see things from a temporal perspective. He sees things from eternity’s view. When God calls you to a task that seems unbearable, know that He is able. When He calls you to go where you wish not to go, go. When He directs you to give when there is no more to give, give. I know that this is easy to say, but I also know that it takes faith to do. When the hand of the Lord falls upon you, do not reject His hand. Do not try to push it away. He may allow you. When He says, “Arise, I shall talk with you,” arise and listen with an ear toward obedience.

Morning Study Guide
Defining:  It would be best to define “heavy-handed” in out morning principle, as “When God appears to be heavy-handed.” Heavy-handed by definition means to be, according to Webster, “Clumsy; not active or dexterous.” Sometimes God appears this way, but only in our limited understanding.

Referencing: “Now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time,” Acts 13:11.

Applying: Whether in love or chastisement, when the hand of the Lord is upon you, yield and receive His direction.
