Title

The Ministry of Reconciliation

Scripture
Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, First be reconciled to your brother.
(Matthew 5:23-24)
Devotional
The Lord’s instruction is very clear; we are to be at peace with each other in Christ. When someone is angry with me for either a just or unjust cause, I am to do my best to be reconciled to that person. Even if I have done nothing to wrong a brother or sister in Christ, I am to be the one who attempts to make it right. It does not matter whether the other person attempts to do the same. I am to humble myself for the sake of reconciliation. This is not an easy task, especially if you are not at fault, or if you have no idea of the wrong you have done. Nevertheless, it is a task that Christ has called us to obey. An offended brother is a wounded brother. Wounded people are not only hurting people; they are hurting people who unwillingly hurt other people. Therefore, do not see those who have something against you as enemies. See them as casualties in need of healing. Jesus Christ has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
