Title

We Need Not Be Afraid

Scripture
“Do not be afraid Abram, I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
(Genesis 15:1)
Devotional
Because of Calvary, we can write our names in place of Abraham’s. I can remember as a young child, my father was a steeplejack. He would take me to different jobs, place me on his shoulders and climb great heights. Without him, I would have been afraid. Because of my trust in him, I just enjoyed the view. I knew that he would never let me fall; I trusted in his strength completely. How much more should I then trust my Heavenly Father? Surely, He will never allow me to fall. Surely, His strength to keep me safe is far greater than my Dad’s could have ever been. With God as our Father, we need never be afraid. He will always shield us from the fiery darts of the evil one. Furthermore, through all life’s trials and toils, He comforts us. Therefore, let the darts come; He is my shield. Let fear knock at my door; with God as my doorkeeper, I need not be afraid. Let life hold back its prize; He is my exceedingly great reward.
