Title

God’s Anger is Just

Scripture
God is a just judge, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
(Psalm 7:11)
Devotional
God in His justice cannot tolerate sin; He hates it. He loves you and me, but because of that love, He detests the sin that is within us. He knows and understands the ramifications of wickedness. Therefore, He cannot for an instant accept the sin which separates us from Him. True, nothing can separate us from the love of God, “Neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing.”(1) Nevertheless, the wickedness of sin angers Him; and the purpose of that anger is to cause us to fear Him and His chastisements. “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”(2) We certainly do not want God to be angry with us. Therefore, His anger should be a great deterrent to sin in our lives. Our anger is more than often unjust; His is always just. Let us realize and remember that God never gets angry because He is in a bad mood (as you and I do). God is a just judge.
