Title

Sharpening a Dull Heart

Scripture
‘The hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them.’
(Matthew 13:15)
Devotional
How awful to be “dull of heart,” emotionless, joyless, having no purpose or ambition in life. How does this happen?” How do we lose our zeal for life? The answer is clearly expressed in our text: by becoming unteachable and visionless. Whenever we stop listening; whenever we stop dreaming, all that is left is a dull heart. One might think that a dull-hearted person is filled with doubts and fears. On the contrary, the dull-hearted are filled with pride. It is their arrogance that has caused them to lose their dream and harden their hearts to sound teaching and instruction. Therefore, all that is required to turn a dull heart into a pliable, beaming heart is repentance-listening to instruction and getting a vision for your life.
No matter how dull our lives may be, there is healing available through the redeeming grace of God in Christ. He can sharpen the dullest of hearts.
