Title

A Better Hope

Scripture
For the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
(Hebrews 7:19)
Devotional
The law reveals my sin. The hope of the gospel of Christ delivers me from sin. When I attempt to live by the strictness of the letter, I find that I am a reached sinner. When on the other hand I place my faith and hope in Christ, I find that He is able to deliver me. In my self, I have often hoped that I could overcome my sin nature. Yet, as Paul, “I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good.” I now have a better hope. I no longer trust in my ability to deliver myself from sin. I now place my total trust in Christ to save me from my sin. I have found the truth of the gospel in that the law can make nothing perfect. It simply reveals sin. For this reason, the law is good. Nevertheless, the law cannot save. Salvation comes only through Christ.
Thought For The Night

A man approached a little league baseball game one afternoon. He asked a boy in the dugout what the score was. The boy responded, ‘Eighteen to nothing—we’re behind.’  ‘Boy,’ said the spectator, ‘I'll bet you're discouraged.’  ‘Why should I be discouraged?’ replied the little boy. ‘We haven't even gotten up to bat yet!’” Unknown
