Title

Faithfulness Thwarts Wrath

Scripture
And the Lord said to Moses, “Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”
(Numbers 16:44-45)
Devotional
We often mistakenly ignore God’s wrath. The Lord God is a loving God. He is full of compassion and mercy. He is also a just God. He will not violate His law. It is for this reason that the book of Hebrews says, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” There is always a penalty for sin. There is a price to be paid. Yet, the Lord diligently holds on to His mercy, love and compassion, and more than often quenches His wrath. The nation of Israel was about to be annihilated because of their rebellion, but God relented because of the faithfulness of one man, the man Moses. When God’s wrath is about to come on the people of disobedience, the obedience of just one can thwart it. You can be that one. You can stand before the Lord on behalf of your family. You can beseech Him for your country. You can call on the Lord to exercise His mercy instead of His wrath.
