Title

The Good Testimony of Faith

Scripture
For by it (Faith) the elders obtained a good testimony.
(Hebrews 11:2)
Devotional
The hall of champions listed in Hebrews 11did not receive acclaim for the things that they did, but for the faith by which they did them. An apparent insignificant thing done in faith will outlast and surpass the grandest of deeds done without it. Faith is the key to blessing. It is the character quality that pleases God. If Abraham had known where he was going, he would not have needed faith. Nevertheless, by faith, he waited for a city with a foundation whose builder and maker is God. (1) We want answers; God wants faith. If we have the answers, we will not need faith. Faith, for the believer, must come first. Consider this list of faithful hero’s, they “all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them.”(2) Our testimonies will receive a good report in heaven, not because of what we have accomplished, but by the faith they were sought.
