Title

Only Christ Is Good Enough

Scripture
There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion . . . a devout man and one who feared God . . . who gave alms generously . . . and prayed to God always.
(Acts 10:1-2)
Devotional
Cornelius was a very good man, but not good enough. Do you know any people like Cornelius? The world is full of them---good people, honest, even devoutly religious. They, as Cornelius, lack one thing, Christ. Without Christ, our righteousness is like filthy rags. (1) The book of Romans further declares, “There is none righteous, no not one,”(2) and, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”(3) No one can earn salvation on his or her own merit. There has never been a person who has received eternal life without the saving grace of Christ. Those before Calvary looked ahead to it. Those who followed Calvary look back at it. All eyes must look to the finished work of the cross. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”(4) Only Christ is good enough.
