Remember Eutychus

In a window sat a young man named Eutychus, who was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.

Devotional
This reminds me of the story of the man rolling in the isle of a Pentecostal church. At the end of the service the brethren went back to pray with him. He was shouting and moaning as the brethren were encouraging him to pray through. After a long time and continued groaning and wailing, someone asked him from where he came, to which he answered distressingly, “The balcony”. Therefore, do not grow weary when the preacher is a little lengthy. Remember, even the apostle Paul could put them to sleep. The job of the preacher is not to entertain us. It is to impart the truth of the gospel. If your pastor is gifted both as an orator and preacher, be thankful. Nevertheless, we ought to be more interested in the truth than in the way the truth is told. It takes a great deal of work to preach the Word of the Lord, and it often takes a good effort to hear it. The next time you find yourself falling asleep in church, remember Eutychus.
