Title

Right In the Sight of God

Scripture
“And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord . . . he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.”
(2 Chronicles 34:2)
Devotional
Although Josiah did what was right in the sight of the Lord, I imagine he did not do right in the sight of all the people. In fact, I am sure he had antagonists and that many of them were good people. Nevertheless, what mattered most to Josiah was doing right in the sight of the Lord.
Josiah did not turn to the liberal left or to the conservative right; he stayed on the course of righteousness before God. He did not vacillate; he held true to his standards and he did not compromise his beliefs. If there is one sign of greatness it is this: believing that true greatness is found in God’s sight, not man’s sight. Josiah’s example is the standard for godly leadership.
It does not matter if the whole world is against you as long as God is for you. Let us use Josiah’s example as the standard for godly leadership. Dare to be a Josiah, dare to do what is right in the sight of God.
