Title

Acquiring the Good Life

Scripture
He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.
(1 Peter 3:10)
Devotional
If most people were asked, “What does it take to love life and experience good days?” I am sure that few would answer as our text. Nevertheless, the Bible says, that the best way to have a good life is by controlling our mouths. Honesty is the key to a good life. Honest people simply love life. Some would say that they are honest because they love life. God says that they love life because they are honest. The only thing it takes for us to prove the scripture is by putting it to the test. Set aside just one month and do your best not to speak evil of anyone or be deceitful in any circumstance. I am pretty sure that your outlook on life will be much brighter and hopeful. You will most likely find yourself walking with a skip in your step and a song in your heart. I am sure that you will fall in love with life and that your days will be good.

Defining: “The good life”: In the modern-day vernacular, “life marked by a high standard of living,” for the believer, “life marked by a godly standard of living.”

Referencing: “Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it,” Psalm 34:12-14.

Applying: Learn to measure the good life by God’s standards, not man’s.
