God is Good in Hard Circumstances

Scripture
“...Fast for me . . . and I will fast likewise. And I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
(Esther 4:16)
Devotional
Esther did not ask the people to do more than she was willing to do. She was willing to risk her life in order to save the lives of the people because she knew that God was her strength and power. Job said it this way, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust Him.”(1) Esther demonstrated this character and attitude of Job when she said, “And if I perish, I perish!”
Like Job and Esther, we can never go wrong by doing right, no matter what the consequences. Esther knew that in herself she was weak. Therefore, she asked the people to fast for her. She also fasted in order to acquire the strength and wisdom to heed the counsel of Mordecai. She did her part and God surely did His. The people were delivered and she and Mordecai were honored.
God is good, especially in hard circumstances.
