Devotional
Here we have the character of those who have history making influence. Great leaders always surround themselves with notable minds and wise counsel. Yet, when life-changing decisions need to be made, they go to the one with a pure heart and a gracious tongue. For they know that they will hear the clear truth compassionately. Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Therefore, the pure in heart shall not only be friend to kings, he shall be friend to the King of Kings. What is a pure heart? The answer can clearly be found by looking at the heart of Jesus. He desired nothing but the truth. He was not self-serving. He went about doing good for the sake of the honor of His father. He meant what He said and said what He meant, and He did so with grace on his lips. To be the friend of kings, one must not desire it unless it is for the benefit of the king. Pure hearts do not seek greatness. Pure hearts give birth to greatness.
