Strength Comes Through Exercise

Scripture
If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.
(Proverbs 24:10)
Devotional
Strength in any real measure comes by exercising. Whether it is mental, physical or spiritual, unless we keep fit, we will fail in the hard race. Just about anyone can run a short distance, but it takes endurance to run life’s marathon. Unless we discipline our lives we will faint easily when adversity comes. Hebrews 12:3 instructs us to consider Christ, “Consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.” What are we to consider? We are to consider His faithfulness, His steadfastness and above all His sacrifice for us. We are able to endure because He paved the way. We need not faint because Christ has already won the victory. The strength we are to have is in Christ, not ourselves. We have to exercise our faith in Him. It is easy to believe when things are going well. It takes strength not to faint when adversity comes. And it will come.
