Title

Knowing God On a First Name Basis

Scripture
I will say to those who are not My people, “You are My people!” And they shall say, “You are my God!”
(Hosea 2:23)
Devotional
Without Christ we were aliens from the commonwealth of God. Nevertheless, because of the mercy and love of God we have been grafted into His Kingdom by the sacrifice of His Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We must never forget who we are in Christ. When life gets you down and you feel as if nothing is going your way, remember who you are. You are a child of the King. The Creator of the universe calls you His child and you call Him your Father. It just does not get any better than that. When this world gets you down and you hold you head high, God says, “That’s my child!” When the end result of your faithfulness proves to be fruitful, then you can say, “That’s my God!” This has not always been the case, but if you belong to Christ it is the case now. You are now somebody. God knows you by name and you likewise know His. His name is Jesus.
Text For The Day
Hosea 2:23: “I will say to those who are not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’
Thought For The Day

“I would propose that the subject of the ministry of this house, as long as this platform shall stand, and as long as this house shall be frequented by worshipers, shall be the person of Jesus Christ. I am never ashamed to avow myself a Calvinist; I do not hesitate to take the name of Baptist; but if I am asked what is my creed, I reply, ‘It is Jesus Christ.’ My venerated predecessor, Dr. Gill, has left a [theological heritage] admirable and excellent in its way. But the [legacy] to which I would pin and bind myself forever, God helping me... is Jesus Christ, who is the arm and substance of the gospel, who is in Himself all theology, the incarnation of every precious truth.” C.H. Spurgeon, first words in the pulpit of the Metropolitan Tabernacle, London.
