Title

When You Have To Stand Alone

Scripture
At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them. But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me.
(2 Timothy 4:16-17)
Devotional
The apostle said earlier, “All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”(1) You and I are no exception. If there has not already, there will come a time when you will have to stand alone in your apology. Even those closest to you will forsake you. It is not because they do not love you, but because there is at least one thing they do not know or understand. It is an awful place to be. It would be an impossible place to be unless the Lord stands with you. There are three facts to this equation: There will be a time that you will have to stand alone. However, the Lord will stand with you. As He stands with you, you will be able to pray, “May it not be charged against them.” Our text strongly indicates that eventually those who have forsaken you will stand with you. I believe that this happens only if the high road is taken. “As a lamb before its shearer is silent, so He opened not His mouth.”(2)
