Title

The Reverent Man

Scripture
Happy is the man who is always reverent, but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
(Proverbs 28:14)
Devotional
The respectful man will receive respect. The reverent man will be revered. The fruit of each is happiness-true happiness which is found in families, business, and personal well-being. It is the presence of peace even in a time of war or hardship. It is “the peace of God which surpasses all understanding.”(1) The reverent man will prosper at his heart’s endeavors. The hard-hearted man, on the other hand, will not be respected nor can he be revered. He may be feared or able to coerce, but peace will never be his achievement. No matter how he prospers he will never attain the joy and happiness of the reverent man. This man will not hear like the reverent man. He is obedient only to his own ways and self-centered understanding. He is a law unto himself. And no matter how he attempts to find a life of peace, he will fall into calamity. Not so with the reverent man. He knows peace and understands prosperity.
