Are You Preparing?

Scripture
Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.
(2 Peter 3:14)
Devotional
Our text mandates a few questions: To what things are we to be looking forward? Can we be at peace when these things come? Can we be pure and clean? The first answer is obvious; it is in reference to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ - whose return is by the sheer passing of time, eminent. As we see that day approaching, let us likewise ask, “What manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness?”(1) The answer is given in our text: diligent, at peace, spotless, and blameless. If God commands it, we can do it. God will never call us to a task that we are unable to attain.(2) There are two realms in which we are to be found in such a state: corporately in the Church and personally in the home. Christ is returning to find his bride, the Church, without spot or wrinkle. He is likewise coming to judge the living and the dead of whom are all of mankind.(3) Are you preparing for His return?
