Title

Sight Without Vision

Scripture
This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
(1 John 1:5)
Devotional
The prophet Daniel clarifies our text when he says, “He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.”(1) As the rising of the sun reveals God’s creation, light reveals God’s glory. As a lamp pierces the darkness, God’s word illuminates our paths. The older I get, the more light I need. As my vision dims with the passing of years, I require more light to read. It is hard to do what you cannot see. The apostle Paul tells us, “That in God dwells unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see.”(2) Likewise he says, “Now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.”(3) He is all the light we need. When deaf and blind Helen Keller was asked, “What would be worse than being born blind?” she replied, “To have sight without vision.”
