Title

You Can Handle It

Scripture
My spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is distressed.
(Psalm 143:4)
Devotional
A dear friend of mine said, “I know that God never gives me more than I can handle, but sometimes I feel that He thinks a little too highly of me.” Have you ever felt that way, that sometimes life deals you more than you can manage? Have you found yourself overwhelmed with life? Does it seem as if you go from one hard thing to another and often they overlap? Before you can get one problem solved another piles on and then another. You can say with the psalmist, “My spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is distressed.” Here is what you have to do: keep on keeping on; pray as the psalmist prayed; let the Lord know exactly how you feel, and do not go through your trials alone. Find a godly brother or sister to stand by you. They do not have to give wise counsel or have all the answers. They just need to be there with you and for you. You are not alone. And it remains true, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”(1)
