Title

Pride Vs. Humility

Scripture
The pride of your heart has deceived you.
(Obadiah 1:3)
Devotional
Of all the great roots of sin, pride is the most deceptive of all. Pride causes us to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. Pride is intoxicating. It will put you into a stupor and cause you to stumble and fall. It numbs the mind and hardens the heart. Pride is worse than any cancer. It destroys while its host thinks that all is well. Pride causes its owner to think that it is the rest of the world that is sick. It will cause you to think that you are somebody when the world and God knows that you are not. Pride's goal is to bring shame. Its host thinks that it is to shame others, but it will turn and destroy. When you find yourself thinking little of others, it is pride that is making you think too much of yourself. Pride must be destroyed before it destroys us. We can destroy pride by focusing on Christ, confessing our sins and serving others. Pride hates humility. Nevertheless humility will be the victor.
