Title

Knowing the Source of Our Strength

Scripture
Peter answered and said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble."
(Matthew 26:33)
Devotional
You have got to love Peter's zeal. However, his zeal was established on pride and his pride could not stand under the temptation of the evil one. The apostle Paul rightfully said to the Corinthians, "Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall."[1] If we are standing in any other strength other than Christ's, we are standing frail. Self confidence may sound good and give a certain sense of security, but when put to the test of temptation will eventually fail. Our strength must be in Christ. Remember, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."[2] Likewise Zechariah says, "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the Lord of hosts."[3] If our source of strength is in anything other than the strength of the Lord our strength is weak at best. Let us know our source and stand firm in it...trusting in Christ alone.
