Title

A Glimpse of Heaven

Scripture
All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God.
(Revelation 7:11)
Devotional
To the very best of our imaginations, heaven is unexplainable. As grand and as wonderful as we can envision, I am sure that we cannot come close to its splendor and grandeur. We know from this eleventh chapter of Revelation that there are people, angels, and creatures. We know that there is a form of government because there are elders and that there is a throne. There will be worship and praise and singing. Upon arrival, we will have to be comforted - tears will have to be wiped away. We will know everybody. We will know all things and our understanding will be complete. Time will have become obsolete. We will have new, perfect bodies. There will be no need for the sun. Heaven is a realm that we are unable to fathom. As great as any part of our lives has been, heaven is far greater. Even though the Spirit bears witness with our spirits about these things, we are assured, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”(1)

(1) 1 Corinthians 2:9
Thought For The Night

We are afraid that Heaven is a bribe, and that if we make it our goal we shall no longer be disinterested. It is not so. Heaven offers nothing that a mercenary soul can desire. It is safe to tell the pure in heart that they shall see God, for only the pure in heart want to.”  C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain
